The House of Welcome (HoW) is committed to serve people seeking asylum who are living in the community. Clients come to HoW through word of mouth, by referral or through client networks.
Based in Granville, HoW currently provides medium term accommodation and housing for approximately 95 asylum seekers in 19 properties. In addition to housing, staff and volunteers offer a variety of support services such as casework, financial assistance, foodbank, referrals, advocacy and community development programs for numerous clients across Sydney.
Work & Welcome provides paid work placements for people seeking asylum and refugees in host schools and organisations across Sydney.
The role of the Work & Welcome Project Officer is to build partnerships with Work & Welcome providers to create meaningful work opportunities for clients, and to provide critical supports for clients to enable successful work placements.
The Work & Welcome Project Officer reports to the Employment Services Manager and is a critical member of the House of Welcome and St Francis Social Services Team.
The position requires strong stakeholder management, a commitment to building capacity and independence for clients and to grow the project to increase employment opportunities for clients.
