Thorne Harbour Health (THH) is recruiting a medical receptionist to work across the medical services offered at our sites in Abbotsford and St Kilda. Our services are primarily targeted at LGBTIQ communities and people living with HIV.

About our clinics

Equinox caters exclusively to the Trans, Gender Diverse & Non Binary (TGD&NB) communities. The primary objective of Equinox is to reduce the barriers that TGD people face in accessing primary health care services and to contribute to the enhanced health and well-being of members in this specific community.

PRONTO! is a peer driven, community based approach to reduce barriers to HIV testing amongst gay and bisexual men. PRONTO! services include Rapid HIV testing and STI screening and clinician lead Pre – Exposure Prophylaxis (PrEP) clinics.

The Centre Clinic provides general practice and specialist sexual health and HIV management clinics.

about the role

We are currently recruiting a medical receptionist who work across all three programs.

The successful applicant must be able to demonstrate an understanding of the complex barriers that our clients face in accessing quality health care, sexual health screening and support.

The receptionist must be welcoming and affirming of our communities. The successful applicant will need to be able to learn complex information quickly and apply this knowledge appropriately within different contexts.

We use “Best Practice” for online booking and medical records. Applicants need to be confident in their ability to learn this system quickly. Training will be provided.

Experience working in a medical setting would be highly regarded.

A strong background in customer service reception or administration would be an advantage.

This position is part time at a minimum of 15 hours per week, with an expectation of additional rostered hours to cover team leave and absences.
