About the Role

The position of Business Development Manager is responsible for coordinating all opportunities for new work within the company, and managing and improving the company’s systems and processes for business development. As a growing company, Alinea International requires the position to be flexible and agile in response to emerging business opportunities. Requirements under this position may include:

  • Leading discussions with clients and partners on strategic relationships for bids;
  • Writing and coordinating bids (quotes and tenders), including for short-term assignments and long-term engagements;
  • Maintaining up to date records of submitted bids and upcoming opportunities;
  • Sourcing suitable personnel to fill positions in bids;
  • Managing the inputs of others into bids;
  • Maintaining and developing capability and past experience statements; and
  • Being part of conversations for strategic decision making; and
  • Any other duties as required.

Key Selection Criteria


  • 10+ years’ experience in International Development, including previous work experience with DFAT (Australia);
  • 5+ years’ experience in business development related roles, including previous experience bidding for DFAT work;
  • A deep understanding of the Australian International Development market;
  • Exceptional writing skills; and
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills, particularly developing relationships with clients and partners.


  • Past experience working with other governments or non-government donors; and
  • Tertiary qualifications in a related field.


The Business Development Manager will be managed by Thomas Hehir, the Chief Operations Officer and Director. This position will work alongside other roles to complete assigned responsibilities.

The position will provide management oversight to associate consultants contributing to Business Development.


Depending on skills and experience, starting at $116,000 + superannuation, up to $133,094 + superannuation.
