• Salary Range: AUD $109,760 per annum to AUD $137,200 per annum (commensurate with skills and experience), plus 9.5% superannuation, plus benefits

THE ROLE

As the Proposal Development Manager, you are a member of the Asia Pacific Conservation and External Affairs (APCXA) team and you will manage the development and writing, primarily of public funding proposals, for the Asia Pacific Region of The Nature Conservancy. You’re responsible for collecting and managing relevant proposal information (including donor requirements and proposal content), working collaboratively with conservation strategy leads in Business Units (BUs) across AP and thematic leads in the APCXA team to identify conservation priority funding needs that align with funding opportunities, proposal writing and editing, and preparing grant proposal applications for submission to public funding agencies.  You will have an opportunity to establish and maintain an information database for public funding proposals, conduct public funding research, maintain a clear understanding of TNC Asia Pacific regional programs and conservation priorities and priority donor funding requirements, and maintain a calendar of submissions and other deadlines.  You are pivotal in increasing the number and value of proposals in the public funding pipeline that are being submitted and awarded on an annual basis to support our Shared Conservation Agenda (SCA) strategies.   In this role you will report to the Asia-Pacific Conservation Director. 

You will excel in crafting funding proposals in a clear and compelling manner, defining structures and work plans, involving colleagues from multiple teams and monitoring task completion.

A LITTLE ABOUT YOU

To be successful in the role you will have:

• Previous experience preparing public funding proposals, including technical texts, logical frameworks, theory of change.
• Bachelor’s degree and 4 years related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• A minimum of 3 years’ experience writing, editing, and proofreading public funding proposals for the public agencies.
• Excellent English writing and proofreading skills.
• Proficiency in using MS Office applications, including Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
• Ability to identify and address issues and problem-solve independently.
• Experience researching information from divergent sources and compiling it into a cohesive reporting structure.
• Experience presenting to and/or communicating with business, government, or legislative staff and/or program leadership.
• Experience in designing, implementing, and directing multiple complex projects and ensuring program accountability.
• Experience working with corporate or NGO partners, and government agencies. 

• Familiarity with US- and European-based public funding agencies.
• Knowledge and expertise in developing theories of transformational change, result chains and related methodologies.
• Multi-lingual skills are appreciated.
• Multi-cultural or cross-cultural experience is preferred.
• Experience writing successful public funding proposals. 
• Experience coordinating with people in difference locations and cultures.
• Ability to work effectively in informal or horizontal teams and collaborate cross function and countries in a global organisation.
• Knowledge and application of current and evolving trends in public funding.
• Thrive working under pressure, being able to seek and synthesise information and communicate in a convincing and succinct manner. 
• Experience working with budgets and how budgets relate to grant proposals.
