The Opportunity:

Mai-Wel is seeking non-executive directors with strong alignment to Mai-Wel’s mission, vision and values to help take our work to the next level. If you:

  • Feel strongly about social inclusion and the rights of people with a disability to live a fulfilling life;
  • Have a strong focus on business sustainability particularly in a not-for-profit setting; and
  • Think you can complement and add value to the existing board of directors,

then we might just be the organisation for you!

Required Skills & Experience:

A strong understanding of the role of a non-executive director, particularly in contrast to the role of management. We’d like to see evidence of experience and background in one or more of the following areas:

  1. Accounting (CA or CPA).
  2. Clinical expertise either a GP, RN, CNC, or allied health practitioner.
  3. Expertise in public relations particularly in a not-for-profit setting.
  4. Expertise in people and culture strategy.
  5. Compliance and risk management in strongly regulated environments.

Governance:

As a non-executive director, you will be expected to be proficient in, understand, be accountable for and actively support:

  • A risk management mindset;
  • strategic and flexible thinking;
  • interpersonal and communication skills;
  • a collaborative approach; and

Understanding your legal duties and responsibilities under the Corporations Act, 2001.

The Board meets monthly and Directors will be required to participate in one (or more) of Mai-Wel’s sub-committees:

  • Finance & Audit Committee;
  • Compliance Committee;
  • Governance & Risk Committee;
  • Events & Fundraising Committee; and/or
  • Other committees – on a needs basis.
