The Centre, a Neighbourhood House, registered charity and Learn Local serving North & West Melbourne and Docklands, is looking for a new Director.
Established in 1976, The Centre’s programs and activities include publishing the quarterly North & West Melbourne News, homework clubs, pre-accredited adult education, the Spring Fling Street Festival and Spanish Language Fiesta, bus trips, morning teas, exercise classes, Docklands’ Pop Up Neighbourhood House and more.
However, as we emerge from lockdown and eventually move beyond the pandemic The Centre will need to adjust its programs to respond to that new environment.
The Director reports to a knowledgeable and engaged board, and oversees a small team of staff and a large team of volunteers from festival hands to homework tutors to the people who write, edit, layout and deliver the News.
The ideal candidate will bring an understanding of community development and a healthy dose of project and staff management to the role, alongside stakeholder engagement skill and experience managing budgets and obtaining grant funding for projects.
The position is offered at four days/week or full-time, as agreed with the successful applicant.
A position description is attached. To discuss the role, please contact current Director Tom Seddon on 0410 478 659 or [email protected] using the subject line: Director enquiry via EthicalJobs.
