The Australian Federal Police Association (AFPA) represents employees of the Australian Federal Police in relation to their professional, legal, industrial, and welfare interests. The AFPA is based in Canberra but represents members across the country, as well as internationally.

The AFPA is seeking to employ a recent university graduate to join our team as a Graduate Industrial Officer for a period of 12 months.

We have everything in place for an ASAP start date.

You will receive training and guidance from the AFPA’s experienced industrial relations and legal professionals to equip you with all necessary skills.

Primarily focus

  • Providing advice, assistance, and advocacy to members in relation to their rights at work
  • Researching a broad range of topics for the AFPA
  • Engaging with members to resolve issues

The ideal candidate would:

  • Have an interest in industrial relations, trade unionism, employment law, human resources or simply wanting to help others with problems they face at work
  • Enjoy working within a team environment
  • Possess strong interpersonal skills
  • Be willing to jump into a diverse range of work
  • Enjoy engaging with people and helping them through problems they face
  • Have an interest in research

The successful candidate will receive a competitive salary, as well as free car parking at our office in Barton and 4 weeks of leave (plus paid Christmas shutdown).
