Tender Funerals Illawarra & Sydney (Based in Port Kembla) is a not-for-profit funeral service delivering personalised, meaningful and affordable funerals, ensuring those experiencing financial hardship are able to access these critical services. We work to empower families and their communities after a death has occurred.

We are looking for a Funeral Director/Mortician to join our Tender community. The role is a Funeral Director/Mortician and requires an experienced and skilled mortician to fill the role.

The role will involve:

• Advanced and basic mortuary care including facilitation families washing and dressing their loved ones
• Transferring the deceased into our care
• Conducting and staffing funerals
• Making funeral bookings
• On Call
• Diversity of role
• Leadership role including training of others in time
• Possibility for Arranger training

To be successful in this position, you will need to meet the following criteria:

• Have experience and skill in providing advanced mortuary care for the deceased including washing and dressing, makeup, setting of facial features
• Reconstruction and restorative art a helpful skill for this role
• Be willing and available to contribute regularly to the on call roster for transfers, phones and arrangements
• Be organised and self driven/motivated
• Uphold and contribute to a healthy workplace culture
• Proficient computer skills
• Welcome bold and difficult conversations in the interest of kindness
• Current unrestricted Australian driver's licence
• Ability to drive manual preferred
• Willingness to undergo a Police check
• Prioritisation & Multitasking skills 
• Have a good phone manner
• Being physically fit to carry out the duties
