Board Director (Voluntary)

Tenants Victoria

About Us

Tenants Victoria is a not for profit specialist community legal centre, a company limited by guarantee and a registered charity regulated by the Australian Charities and Not For Profit Commission. It is generally regarded by the community sector and government as the centre of expertise in tenancy law and practice.

We support tenants in public and private housing by providing legal advice, information and representation to individuals; by advocating and campaigning for reform in the law and practice of tenancies and by supporting other community agencies to build capability through training. Most recently we led the successful Make Renting Fair campaign, significantly contributing to the substantial reform of tenancy law in Victoria. Read more about our work at www.tenantsvic.org.au.

Forming a skilled and committed Board, Directors are working with and supporting the CEO and staff to continue to expand and develop Tenants Victoria and its contribution to social justice and housing reform.

Our new Director

We are specifically seeking a new director with qualifications and substantial experience in financial management and/or accounting to contribute to the Board’s key oversight function of financial and risk matters.

Importantly, not only do you have a belief in social equity and the importance of a stable home for the education and development of the next generation, but in addition to your financial skills, you have the professional experience and qualifications to contribute to our strategic development.

You also have excellent interpersonal communication skills. Governance experience is essential – preferably as a member either of a NFP Board or a Management Committee.
