The Opportunity

This is a fantastic opportunity for an innovative, strategic thinker to lead the scientific services portfolio across the Institute, providing strategic direction to ensure sustainable research platforms and success across competitive research streams. Your new portfolio will include: Research Platforms (Bioinformatics, Bioresources, Genomics WA, and Laboratory Management), Data Strategy, Research Development (grant, fellowships, external funding opportunities) and potentially Commercialisation.

This is a fast-paced role where you will build strong and trusted relationships internally and externally, ensuring your teams provide a high level of service excellence to enable and empower our researchers, across the research life cycle, to undertake world-class research with minimal roadblocks.  As a service delivery focused individual, you will be flexible and able to challenge yourself and your teams in order to achieve high quality results aligned with the goals of the Institute.

Conveniently located in the Perth Children’s Hospital, this full-time opportunity and relocation opportunities available for negotiation. 

About You

As our new Director, you will work closely with the Executive Director, to support the development and direction of scientific initiatives, both internally and externally to support the Institute’s vision and mission. The key to your success will be your demonstrated experience in the following:

  • Excellent negotiation and presentation skills combined with outstanding oral, written and interpersonal skills communicating complex concepts.
  • Demonstrated exceptional leadership and management skills with the ability to work collaboratively, support other team members grow their skills and positively advocate for change.
  • Experience identifying key funding opportunities and developing high quality submissions that support strategic objectives.
  • Experience as an active health researcher and research leader with an established track record of research excellence. (There is the potential to undertake a part-time program of research, by negotiation).
  • PhD or equivalent.

Medical Research industry experience is not essential but would be an advantage.
