About the role

This part time role will play a critical part in Tearfunds’ advocacy and campaigning, which exists to bring about large-scale Christ-centred change on issues that affect people who are living with poverty and marginalisation.

When you are successful in this role, you will create and contribute to the delivery of advocacy campaigns and communications that mobilise Christians and influence decision-makers to act. You’ll collaborate with a talented and dedicated group of communication and community organising professionals across Tearfund’s Australian Program Team and amongst our national and global coalitions, providing advice and training on campaign issues and tactics. You’ll also be supported to continue to grow in your professional skills and expertise through Tearfund’s learning and development program.

What this role will require…

• Campaigning, movement building and content expertise
• Sophisticated advocacy and political nous, campaigning and communications skills and biblical literacy
• Strong relationship-building and negotiation skills for collaboration and the ability to lead others and initiatives.

Is this you? To be successful in this role, you will have;

• Demonstrated experience in advocacy campaigning, campaign strategy development and campaign communications.
• Sound understanding of the Australian political system and policy, ideally relating to poverty alleviation and environmental issues.
• Demonstrated ability to understand, think analytically and strategically synthesise complex policy issues.
• Excellent writing and editorial skills for communications across different channels.
• Familiarity with, an active involvement in, and a broad understanding of the evangelical church and community.
• Tertiary qualifications in relevant field including politics, law, economics, communications, journalism, public relations, development or theology.
