TeamHEALTH’s range of programs provide increased opportunities of recovery for people whose lives are severely affected by mental illness. The aim of services provided is to support recovery, reduce social isolation, improve independent living, family wellbeing, employment and education outcomes.

The Two-Way Mentoring Program aims to increase the economic and community participation of individuals who experience psychosocial disability. The program has two components:

  • The provision of training and mentorship to non-mental health organisations so they can best attract and support individuals with a psychosocial disability.
  • The provision of peer-led mentoring to individuals with psychosocial disability who wish to be employed and who are facing barriers to accessing existing career and work placement pathways.

Reporting to the Executive Manager and under the day to day direction of the Coordinator, the Two Way Mentor will participate as part of a small team in the collaborative development of resources and processes for the Two-Way Mentoring Program as well as provide support and mentorship for the participants involved in the Program.

Possessing qualifications in a relevant community services, mental health or related area the successful applicant must have an understanding of the recovery model, psychosocial rehabilitation and delivery of services to people with mental illness and psychiatric disability in a community setting.

This is a full time position based in Darwin, Northern Territory.

Essential for Position

  • Appropriate qualifications in a community services, mental health or related area.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the recovery model, psychosocial rehabilitation and delivery of services to people with mental illness and psychiatric disability in a community setting.
  • Lived experience of mental illness.
  • Demonstrated ability to uphold the right of people with a mental illness and their carers.
  • Demonstrated ability to form partnership with all stakeholders including participants, carer, clinical services and other service providers.
  • Demonstrated high level of communication skills (written and verbal), with the ability to interact with a diverse range of people.
  • Ability to deliver presentations and information to small groups.
  • Demonstrated ethical work practices including an understanding of appropriate personal boundaries.
  • Action orientated, flexible and innovative approach.
  • Demonstrated computer literacy in a Microsoft Office environment.

Desirable for Position

  • Certificate IV in Mental Health or willingness to obtain.
  • Experience in working within employment services.
  • Identify with having lived and/or living experience of mental health concerns and be willing to share your expertise in a safe and meaningful way.

It is a requirement for this position that candidates have or are willing to obtain National Police Certificate that was issued less than two years ago, a current Driver’s License, a current Ochre Card and NDIS Worker screening and Orientation Module Certificate.
