Talent Lead / Manager - Flexible location

The Benevolent Society

  • Reshape talent to create an amazing experience
  • Partner with the business
  • Location – Sydney, Newcastle/Hunter, Brisbane or Adelaide

The Benevolent Society has been at the forefront of social change for over 200 years. We partner with children and young people, families, older Australians, carer’s, and people with disability to provide services that enable people to live their best life.

The role

We’re looking for an experienced Talent Lead to build out how we source, nurture, and place great people in the right opportunity. The role balances an active role in sourcing talent, with program and initiative development as we move towards more proactive sourcing models. You’ll be responsible for building and maintaining external talent pools and partnering with the business to maintain internal talent pools as we grow career development programs. And you’ll lead your small team to do some great things.

The Talent team is Sydney based. Recent times have shown us we can lead and connect remotely. If this is a strength for you, the role could be attached to any of our larger offices. Balance work from home with connecting with real, live people! We’re thinking Newcastle/Hunter (Broadmeadow), Brisbane (Milton) or Adelaide (Melrose Park) would work great if you’re outside Sydney.

About you

You have experience leading a small team and you’re a hands-on finder of people. You’re curious. Curious about your clients and what they actually need. Curious about your team and how you can support them to deliver more. Curious about what really attracts people to a workplace. And curious about how we could try new ways of doing this thing we don’t really like to call recruitment anymore.

What really matters is you’re all about finding great people. You’re a relationship manager. A networker. A communicator. A collector. Some might even say a match maker. You’re great at matching people to the right opportunity, even where that opportunity is at some as yet undefined future point.

But you’re about more than match making. You have the ability to put it all together. To support the development of programs and initiatives that link talent to the big picture. You can support the business, and your team, to see what’s possible when it comes to talent. To help them see we’re just scratching the service. So they ask for more.

Who’s the team?

The roles sits in the People and Organisational Development team. You’ll be a key business partner, working with operational teams in particular to support them to find great people to continue to deliver services to the communities and people we work alongside.

This has been scoped as a full-time role, but everyone is going to bring a different mix of experience. If you feel you can deliver part-time, let’s chat about how that could work for both of us.

Some of the benefits we offer

  • Salary packaging (if you’ve never worked for a charity, visit www.accesspay.com.au to find out more about how this benefit works),
  • Discounts on everyday purchases,
  • Purchasing additional leave,
  • Opportunity for flexible and remote work.

What you need to succeed?

Let’s set you up for success. The Position Profile for this role contains more information.

  • Experience designing and/or maintaining programs that support the development of talent pools would be an advantage.
  • The tendency to dig in and get to know the business you’re working with.
  • Ability to use social media and other sourcing channels to find great people and start a conversation.
  • Great relationship management skills with the ability to quickly build effective relationships.
