Our Early Years Centres are community hubs offering child health services, family support and early childhood education whilst focusing on early intervention and prevention to ultimately empower children and families. Our long day care and kindergartens are co located with our integrated early years hubs to support children in their best start in life.

About this role

We are on the look out for an experienced Educational Leader/Assistant Director (called a Senior Practitioners role internal) to join our leadership team and support across the services in a mentoring role. The successful applicant will be required to have previous experience in these areas.

The position will work leading the pedagogy and practice at our Acacia Ridge Long day care and our Beaudesert Kindergarten.

The purpose of this position is to build team capability and to work with more complex client support needs using strength based frameworks to optimise the learning, wellbeing and safety of children accessing the service.

As the Educational Leader/Assistant Director , you will

  • Work with teachers, educators, families and allied health professionals to support children with more complex needs.
  • Work with children, their families, teachers and educators to develop, implement, monitor and review individual programming for children who require additional support and outcomes that identify strengths as well as areas of risk, ensuring children and young people are actively engaged in the process
  • Liaise with wrap around services including government departments and agencies, schools, health services, GP’s and allied health providers, as required.
  • Coordinate student placements, liaise with student supervisors and supervise students from universities, registered training organisations and TAFE.
  • Coach, advise and provide on the job support to Educators and Teachers to better understand and apply strengths based and educational frameworks to improve children outcomes
  • Work closely with the Team Leader and Management to evaluate and address learning needs
  • Continue to support the practice of colleagues to achieve better outcomes for clients

You will be part of our strong leadership team that manages and supports the work of Teachers and Educators, Early Childhood Specialist, Social Workers, Child Health Nurses, Speech Pathologists and Occupational Therapists.

Terms: Maximum term full time position based at Acacia Ridge

What you need to succeed?

  • Degree or Diploma qualified in early childhood education or teaching,
  • Demonstrated experience working with children 0-5 from a strengths based perspective
  • At least 3 years experience in early childhood education where you have been responsible for programming and/or operation of the service or a significant part of a service.
  • Demonstrated experience, or commitment to, working in an ecological model where different services are bought together and work collaboratively to achieve the best outcomes for clients
  • Experience working collaboratively with other services/teams to achieve the best outcomes for clients
  • Ability to mentor and support colleagues with assessment skills, case management and therapeutic interventions
  • High level of professional accountability and desire to proactively shape your future development
  • Ability to prioritise competing demands and effectively manage interruptions
