At The Benevolent Society, we believe every person deserves to live life on their own terms, with dignity, respect and a sense of belonging. For over two centuries, this belief has shaped who we are and how we work.
We’re working towards a just society where everyone feels valued, safe and included. As a not for profit, independent and non-religious organisation, we proudly embrace diversity and are deeply committed to reconciliation. We welcome people from all backgrounds, identities and experiences to join us in creating positive change.
As our Counsellor, you’ll provide accessible, goal-focused counselling to carers, with a particular focus on children and young people under 18 with caring responsibilities. You’ll support carers from diverse backgrounds who care for individuals impacted by disability, chronic illness, mental ill-health, ageing, or other support needs.
Using a strengths-based and person-centred approach, you’ll help carers build resilience, improve wellbeing, and feel more supported in their caring role. You’ll provide counselling and psychotherapy, complete assessments, facilitate therapeutic groups, and connect clients with additional supports and services where needed.
We support people to live their best life. That includes you, our employee. A ‘best life’ is unique to everyone and can change as life changes:
