The Family and Child Connect program partners with at risk families to identify and assess needs and provide referrals to intensive support as required.

As a Child & Family Practitioner you will provide intake support including screening for service eligibility, gaining consent and identifying/communicating the families’ needs to enable appropriate referrals and follow up support. Working in a multidisciplinary team, you will also provide information and advice to the community and professionals seeking assistance for children and families where there is a concern for their wellbeing.

  • 1 x Full time contract position from September 2020 to end of March 2021

About you:

You will have a relevant tertiary qualification, experience working with families and:

  • Ability to actively engage, assess and case manage vulnerable families using a holistic, client-centred strengths based approach
  • A clear understanding of child protection issues and the capacity to identify when the level of risk requires statutory child protection intervention
  • High level written and verbal communication, it’s important to document our work
  • Excellent relationship building skills and networks with the local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities
  • Current drivers license (pool cars are available so you don’t need to use your own vehicle)
  • Full Time contract from September 2020 to end March 2021
