Are you passionate about the impact early intervention can have in children’s lives?
As the Partner in the Community for the NDIA’s Early Childhood Early Intervention (ECEI) service across Logan / Beenleigh/ Redlands, Brisbane and the Moreton Bay region (Caboolture/ Strathpine), The Benevolent Society is excited to be recruiting additional Child Development Specialists to the team.
Terms: Full time fixed term contract until the 30th of June 2022.
You will meet with families and gather information on their child’s development, and the parents’ goals for their child. You will report to a Team Leader, and work within a trans-disciplinary team alongside other professionals, such as Speech Pathologists, Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, Social Workers and Early Childhood Teachers, to determine the best supports for children with a development delay and/or disability and their families, which may include seeking to gain access to the NDIS.
You will report to a Team Leader, and work alongside other professionals, such as Speech Pathologists, Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, Social Workers and Early Childhood Teachers, to determine the best pathway for children with a development delay and/or disability and their families, which may include seeking to gain access to the NDIS.
Report writing will make up about 50% of your work, so being a good written communicator, enjoying writing reports and being very comfortable using technology are essential for enjoying this role.
Having an aptitude for interpretation of legislation will also be very helpful to you in this role – but don’t worry, we have Senior Practitioners and a Workplace Trainer who can support you to interpret and apply the legislation. A large portion of your week will be spent travelling to meetings with families – so enjoying variety, interacting with different people and getting out and about is also important.
As an evolving scheme, the NDIS environment can be quite dynamic, so an openness and resilience to change will set you up for success in this role.
These roles represent a unique opportunity to have a genuine impact on the lives of the children and families you will work with.
For a confidential discussion about the role, please call one of our team leaders below
(These roles are internally known as Child Development Specialists)
We welcome diversity in all its forms; applications from underrepresented communities are strongly encouraged. We value relationships with our local Aboriginal community and welcome applications from its members.
We see ability not disability, if you identify as a person with a different ability please get in contact.
Successful candidates will be required to clear probity checks including National Criminal History Record Check and Working with Children Check or similar (where relevant to the role).
