Family and Child Connect is a Queensland Government funded initiative aimed at ensuring vulnerable families and children have access to high-quality services at the right time to help them to maintain the family unit. Family and Child Connect is a community based intake, advice and referral service. Children and young people are at the centre of the system, with supported and supportive parents, families and communities.

Your new role:

You will provide quality service delivery to children, young people, families and the community within the Family and Child Connect Service, through intake, assessment, information and advice, including recommendations and referrals to appropriate services.

You will engage with referrers and families, complete initial assessments and support at risk families to access appropriate supports to improve family functioning and child wellbeing.

You will also build relationships with the elders and local Indigenous community and other government and NGO services.

Terms: Full time contract to 30 June 2020 based in Cleveland, QLD.

Your skills and experience

You will have experience working with children and families within the community services sector and be recognised within the community as a respected, culturally safe person:

  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience working in a case work/case management setting with children and families with experience identifying and addressing child protection concerns appropriately
  • Hold a tertiary qualification (minimum bachelor degree) in Community Services, Social Work, Human Services or related discipline
  • Experience and demonstrated capacity to build rapport in a short time frame
  • Capacity to engage with people from all walks of life including the local Aboriginal community
  • Hold a current driver’s licence (pool cars are available for work use)
