Our Child & Family Services provide intensive family support within the Child Protection system to strengthen families and decrease any risks to children, reducing the numbers of children entering Out of Home Care.

Your new role:

Working in a multidisciplinary team, you will to engage with and support Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander families.

You will undertake an assessment of family strengths, needs and desired outcomes, create a case plan and link them with appropriate networks. You will honour, respect and incorporate children and families culture in all aspects of practice and service delivery. You will develop and manage relationships with the local community and other stakeholders to improve outcomes for Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander families.

This is an Identified position. The Benevolent Society considers that being Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander is a genuine occupational requirement under s14 of the Anti-Discrimination Act NSW 1977.

Terms: Full time 12 month Max term contract, based in Gold Coast, QLD.

What you'll bring:

As well as having recognition from Community as a culturally safe person and practitioner, you will have:

  • 3+ years’ experience working with ATSI children and families within safety and/or well-being context with 1+ year case management experience
  • Formal qualifications in social work, early childhood, psychology is desirable
  • Excellent understanding of child protection issues & client vulnerabilities, and the impact of trauma and the effect on child behaviour and development
  • Understanding of the needs of diverse communities such as ATSI, culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD), and LGBTI communities.
