The School offers Victorian Certificate of Applied Learning to refugee and asylum seeker school-aged women in a flexible learning environment. The School grew out of the Learning Centre which was established in 2006 to assist the refugee community. They receive significant funding due to disability, particularly social-emotional trauma, to support our many individualised learning interventions.

The Business Manager will impact the whole school. The role is central to the school’s administration, finance, IT, human resource and property management. You will be the representative as an Approved Authority (legal entity) approved to receive and administer government school funding and responsible for compliance around financial accountability and the Education Act as it applies to Independent Schools. There is an administrative team of staff, consultants, cleaning staff and contractors.

Key Selection Criteria

  1. Understanding and experience in an Independent School setting.
  2. High level of oral and written communication skills.
  3. High level of adaptability, problem-solving and strategic and planning skills.
  4. Demonstrated financial and human resource processes and systems management.
  5. Business administrative experience relevant to school staff, finance and accounting management including Budgets and support to the Principal and School Board.

The position reports to the Principal and we will require a tertiary Business qualification, financial and IT competence with experience in an independent school setting completing Financial Questionnaires and Reports to Commonwealth and State Education Authorities. There will be a working with children check and 100-point proof of identity requirement.

There is flexibility regarding the time fraction however this is to be a 3 day or ~23 hour per week role and flexibility with hours of work, annual leave and non-term weeks. Start date around 21 January 2021, or soon thereafter.
