We are seeking a suitably qualified Senior Social Worker to fill an existing vacancy at Northern Suburbs Community Legal Centre (NSCLC). The aim is to fill a current vacancy that exists in addition to establishing a pool of suitably qualified Social Workers for future vacancies.

  • Full-time position (1FTE) exists for a Social Worker within NSCLC.
  • Salary $86, 355 - $ 93, 864 plus superannuation, salary sacrifice package and excellent employee conditions.

About us

NSCLC aims to provide clients with both a legal and non-legal support services that are specific to their needs. We understand that legal and social matters can be complex and often require a combination of legal, social and financial support. Our team of volunteers and workers are dedicated to ensuring we raise community awareness on family and domestic violence, amongst other issues.

Our Team

You are a key part of the Women’s Resource and Engagement Network (WREN) program dedicated to providing wrap-around legal and non-legal services to women experiencing domestic violence, to protect themselves and their children. WREN supports women to access other services, such as crisis accommodation, counselling and financial advice. One element our entire NSCLC team has in common, is the belief in social justice – the right that all people should have equal access to wealth, health, well-being, justice and opportunity.

The Position

The primary purpose of this role is to provide case management to clients and undertaking project work supporting WREN objectives, which includes:

  • Responding effectively to women experiencing family violence, including brief counselling, safety planning and referrals
  • Working with legal practitioner and other professional staff within NSCLC to address family and domestic violence for victims.
  • Work collaboratively with partners and the community to demonstrate effective collective responses to early intervention of domestic violence.

The Person

The person we are seeking will have at least 5 years’ experience, be a strong collaborator, able to build community networks in a professional setting and be passionate about working with vulnerable groups from culturally and linguistically diverse groups, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander backgrounds.

You will also have strong case management capability, including an ability to interview and assess clients’ issues, identify options, provide information and feedback, provide advice, make referrals and seek to evaluate outcomes.

You will have demonstrated experience in providing short-term counselling.

The person will hold a Bachelor of Social Work or Psychology (or similarly related tertiary qualification).
