ABOUT THE ROLE & THE PROGRAM

HYPA Homes provides therapeutic home environments for young people with histories of complex trauma, abuse and neglect.

HYPA Homes uses an attachment and trauma-informed approach to the care of young people. Young people will be provided with a sense of family, support to heal, positively connect with others and rebuild their lives.

We are now looking for Therapeutic Care Workers who will be based in Mawson Lakes and can work across 24/7 rotating rostered shifts, including sleepovers, weekends and public holidays.

Duties of the successful applicant include:

  • Build and promote a positive and thriving community that supports the young people residing in our homes.
  • Work with young people in a manner informed by attachment and trauma informed care.
  • Ensure all essential needs are met for the young person within the home such as providing a balanced diet, prompts with hygiene, support for school engagement, and creating positive life experiences.
  • Promote independent living skills including assistance with cooking, meal planning, budgeting, shopping, and maintaining a house and other daily living requirements.
  • Maintain and contribute to individual Therapeutic Care Plans for each young person within the home.
  • Mentor and coach young people to assist them to achieve their goals.
  • Assist and support young people to develop links and build their capacity to be part of their community.

ABOUT YOU

The successful applicant/s will require the following Qualifications and Experience:

  • Completed, or working towards a minimum Certificate IV qualification in a relevant discipline (e.g. Youth Work, Social Work, Social Science, Counselling) is essential.
  • Current HLTAID003 Provide First Aid Certificate or equivalent is essential.
  • Experience in working with young people with complex trauma is essential.
  • Experience in developing case plans and case noting and report writing is desirable.

This position is dependent on ongoing program funding.
