Board Opportunity

Justice Support Centre

South West Sydney Legal Centre provides legal services to marginalised people in the LGAs of Liverpool, Fairfield and Canterbury-Bankstown and delivers support, case management services and financial counselling to people who have experienced domestic and family violence in South West Sydney and Central Sydney. Our purpose is to provide equitable and accessible legal services to our community and to empower women and children to break the cycle of domestic and family violence. We employ over 60 people and our annual revenue exceeds $6 million.

Last year’s Annual Report and our strategic plan provide a snapshot of our work.

There is one vacancy on the Management Committee (“board”) of our Incorporated Association.

We are seeking a volunteer board member who has extensive understanding and strategic leadership experience in preferably both, but at least one of these areas:

  • Communications
  • Fundraising and philanthropy

In addition, your expression of interest would be highly regarded if you also have skills or experience in any of these areas:

  • Community legal services
  • Domestic and family violence services
  • Technology (technical; and risk and compliance)

Our board members must have a strong commitment to social justice. Applicants with board experience or AICD board training or similar, will also be highly regarded. Meetings are held via Zoom in the evenings 6-8 times per year. In the future, they may also be held in person at a South West Sydney location such as Liverpool.

We serve a culturally and linguistically diverse community. Applicants from CALD backgrounds and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people with the required experience are strongly encouraged to express their interest in this vacancy.
