As a South West Community Legal Centre employee, you will be making a real difference every day. This position is well suited to a legal practitioner with experience in family law, domestic and family violence issues, child protection, tenancy and other civil law. The applicant will need to demonstrate an understanding of the cultural, social and economic issues facing people in the South West community.

As a key team member, you will work with other staff members and report to the Managing Principal Solicitor.

You will ideally have experience in most or all of the following areas of law: restraining order matters, family law, child protection, criminal injuries compensation, tenancy and other areas of civil law.

Part of a small legal team, you’ll be applying your skills and sharing your knowledge across a diverse range of matters. Reporting directly to our Managing Principal Solicitor, you’ll manage a diverse caseload and be given opportunities to further your own professional development.

There is flexibility to negotiate the hours of this position. It is envisaged that the successful candidate will be employed 3-5 days per week. This position is based in our Bunbury office, and may involve travel to our nearby Outreach locations or local courts. APPLICANTS WILL HAVE:

• A Bachelor of Laws qualification and hold or be eligible to hold an unrestricted practicing certificate with minimum 2 years post-admission experience
• Experience, or a willingness to gain experience, in most or all of the following areas of law: family law, child protection, civil and generalist law, restraining order, tenancy and criminal injuries compensation matters
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Demonstrated high level written and legal research skills
• Sound time management skills
• Ability to meet service delivery quality standards and targets
• A strong commitment to social justice and access to justice
