As a South West Community Legal Centre employee you will be making a real difference every day.

This position is well suited to a legal practitioner or paralegal with experience in family law, domestic and family violence issues, child protection and other relevant practice areas. The applicant will need to demonstrate an understanding of the cultural, social and economic issues facing people in the South West community.

As part of a small legal team, you’ll be applying your skills and sharing your knowledge across a diverse range of matters. Reporting directly to our Senior Solicitor, you’ll manage a diverse caseload and be given opportunities to further your own professional development.

This is a 4 day per week position based in our Bunbury office and may involve travel to our nearby Outreach locations or local courts. This position may be considered for a further term, however all positions at South West Community Legal Centre are subject to ongoing funding.

APPLICANTS WILL HAVE:

  • Currently studying to obtain a Bachelor of Laws qualification or experience to practice as a paralegal
  • Experience, or a willingness to gain experience, in most or all of the following areas of law: family law, child protection, civil and generalist law, restraining order and criminal injuries compensation matters
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Demonstrated high level written and legal research skills
  • Sound time management skills
  • Ability to meet service delivery quality standards and targets
  • A strong commitment to social justice and access to justice
  • Hold a current, Western Australian Driver's Licence (full or probationary licence)

applicants will also have:

  • Proof of your COVID – 19 vaccinations as per the requirements of the Western Australia Public Health Order.
  • Proof of your COVID - 19 booster vaccination or proof once you have received it as per the requirements of the Western Australia Public Health Order.
