Some information about being a Support Services Assistant at SVHM:
The duties of a Support Services Assistant include (but are not limited to):
- Removal of waste materials including contaminated materials.
- Detailed cleaning of patients rooms including all fixtures and fittings/ensuites and all ward facilities.
- Deliver meal trays to and collecting meal trays from patients.
- Perform morning/afternoon and supper tea rounds.
- Collect food supplies and any additional food trays from Food Services.
- Transport patients between and/or within wards/departments/other facilities including mortuary as per existing agreement.
- Transport and courier ward and/or departmental equipment/items/luggage/pathology items.
- Use correct manual handling techniques perform lifting and positioning patients to bed/ wheelchair.
- Assist in transporting patients to/from baths, showers and toilets, as required under direction.
To be a Support Services Assistant at SVHM you will need:
- Current Certificate III in Health (PSA or HAS)
- Food Safety Certificate Level 1
- Experience using Gzunda highly regarded
- Code Grey eligibility may be a pre-requisite in some departmental areas
- Interpersonal skills
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a team
- Demonstrated ability to work under minimal supervision
- Very high standard of Patient & customer service
- Able to read and write and communicate effectively in English
This role will be located at SVHM Fitzroy campus.
SVHM Support Services Assistant are generally classified as PS21 - PS25 (or equivalent).
