Position Summary:

A vacancy exists in the above unit for a highly motivated Social Worker with appropriate knowledge and skills to join our friendly and supportive team. Our progressive and innovative team offers development opportunities for our staff and a caring environment for the delivery of high quality patient centred care. The successful applicant(s) will be expected to be able to provide assessment and psychological therapy, work collaboratively with people across the inpatient setting, as well as local non-government organisations.

  • The provision of best practice working with a range of mental health issues and consumers with multiple social and economic complexities
  • The role will promote recovery and minimise any possible disability associated with mental illness
  • Ensure that consumers and /or carers participate in the development and implementation of their own treatment/management plans
  • Participate in initial assessment of people presenting in a psychiatric emergency and/or in crisis

Selection Criteria

  • Personal integrity and demonstrated commitment to the Philosophy, Mission and Values of Mary Aikenhead Ministries and St Vincent's Health Australia
  • Eligible for membership of the Australian association of Social Workers
  • Demonstrated interpersonal, communication and organisational skills
  • Able to demonstrate competence, knowledge and experience in the management, treatment and care coordination of persons with a mental illness
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a multidisciplinary health care team on an inpatient setting.
  • Commitment to maximising levels of consumer participation in decision making and choices over treatment and management plans
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver high quality client care Demonstrated commitment to own personal and professional development
