About the Department

St Vincent's Operating Suite currently houses 12 theatres, 12 anaesthetic rooms and a Post Anaesthetic Care Area. We undertake over 9,000 procedures per year in a vast range of highly specialised and complex specialities over a 24 hour period, 7 days per week. Our excellent working conditions include no on call and minimal weekends. We also offer a mentoring program, which provides a comprehensive orientation to the department and aims at achieving ongoing professional development. We offer a supportive multidisciplinary environment with a strong education focus.

About the Role

Exciting opportunities exists for suitably qualified, experienced and highly motivated Anaesthetic/PACU nurse to join our dynamic Anaesthetics team on a fixed term, part time basis. Under the guidance of the Nurse Unit Manager or Associate Nurse Unit Manager, the Grade 2 Registered Nurse will be responsible for the delivery of expert clinical care.

Classifications for this position will range from YP3 - YP11 ($65,275 - $87,282 per annum, pro rata).

Duties

  • Ability to work efficiently as a member of a multidisciplinary team
  • Managing the physical and emotional well-being of the patient
  • Administration of medication in accordance with hospital procedures, protocols and policies
  • Assist with medical and diagnostic procedures carried out in the unit
  • Document, observe and report relevant nursing findings within the framework of nursing progress.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience

  • Completed Bachelor of Nursing Degree with a current Nursing Registration with AHPRA
  • Post Graduate Diploma or Certificate in Perioperative Nursing (desirable)
  • Current experience in perioperative nursing and a good understanding of the current standards of practice is essential
  • Motivated, professional & exhibiting exceptional communication and time management skills
