POSITION SUMMARY

A vacancy exists in the above unit for a highly motivated Administrative Officer with appropriate knowledge and skills to join our friendly and supportive team.

The PAS Data entry Administrative Officer is responsible for participating in providing an efficient medical record service to St Vincent's Public Hospital between the hours of 09:30 - 18:00. The HIS position will maintain the timeliness, integrity and accuracy of information entered into the hospital Patient Administration System (PAS), support the PAS team and also other sections within Health Information Services as required according to daily activities and staffing levels. The position is responsible for providing an efficient Health Information service within St Vincent's Health Network and will contribute to collecting accurate health care information, maintaining accurate documentation and communicating effectively with patients and other health care team members in accordance with the Networks Values and expectations.

The vacancy is open to Australian citizens, New Zealand citizens who hold a valid New Zealand passport, Australian permanent residents and those non-residents deemed by the Department of Immigration and Citizenship to be eligible to work in Australia only.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Ensure the patient's right to privacy and confidentiality is maintained at all times
  • Maintain the timeliness, integrity and accuracy of information entered into the hospital Patient Administration System (PAS)
  • Support the PAS Department by answering calls from both internal and external requestors
  • To locate and retrieve medical records accurately, monitor and maintain record locations with the electronic tracking system
  • Filing of allocated records daily
  • File allocated looseleaf on a daily basis
  • Follow procedures when attending to daily duties and position line of authority when issues/problems arise
