A vacancy exists in the above unit for a highly motivated Clinical Nurse Consultant with appropriate knowledge and skills to join our friendly and supportive team. Our progressive and innovative team offers development opportunities for our staff and a caring environment for the delivery of high quality patient centred care. The successful applicant(s) will be expected to be able to provide expert clinical advice and consultancy to patients, carers and other health care professionals within a defined specialty. The Clinical Nurse Consultant develops, facilitates implementation and evaluates care management plans for patients with complex health needs. The Clinical Nurse Consultant provides leadership that facilitates the ongoing development of clinical practice and initiates and utilises findings of research in the provision of clinical services. The Clinical Nurse Consultant contributes to the development and delivery of specialty related education programs and participates in formal processes for the strategic and operational planning for the clinical service.

A designated senior mental health nurse that will support a stepped care service model for SVHN district. It is recognised that GPs have different areas of interest and expertise.

Selection Criteria

  • Personal integrity and demonstrated commitment to the Philosophy, Mission and Values of Mary Aikenhead Ministries
  • List A Registration - NSW Nurses Registration Board.
  • Minimum of five years post registration experience in mental health nursing with demonstrated expertise in Mental Health Nursing
  • Demonstrated knowledge of contemporary mental health practice.
  • Commitment to multidisciplinary and integrated service approach to patient care.
  • High level of interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated expertise in assessment, diagnosis/ formulation/ management of patients with mental health problems.
  • Able to work effectively with staff and patients, both individually and in groups, in a supportive, problem solving manner
