About the team

Our team based at Ozanam House is multi-faceted. Our services include supporting clients through all stages including crisis, recovery and growth to achieve lasting change. This is achieved by means of supporting and referring clients with diverse support needs including support with: mental health, substance misuse, social marginalisation, legal, family violence, intellectual and/or physical disability.

We work together to support clients through all stages of their journey from crisis to recovery and to lasting and sustainable change.

About the role

At VincentCare, we recognise that health and well-being outcomes for the LGBTIQ community are worse than the general population, and that LGBTIQ people are over represented in homelessness. For this reason, we employ staff with a specific LGBTIQ portfolios.

The VincentCare Victoria is seeking an appropriately-qualified person to take on the position of Key Worker LGBTIQ Diversity Portfolio.

In this role, you will work closely with homeless and marginalised single adults to assist in securing and maintaining affordable housing by addressing unmet needs via a case management process.

You will work from a collaborative, integrated and client centred approach to provide tailored support through the practise of completing ongoing assessment, case planning and review, and making appropriate referrals. Your aim is to stabilise the client's crisis, create pathways to ongoing supports, and facilitate access to appropriate and sustainable housing.

This position has a specialist portfolio focus on LGBTIQ clients and community. A primary focus of this role will be identifying potential partnerships and referral pathways with LGBTIQ aligned services to improve outcomes for LGBTIQ clients. The role also include the sharing knowledge and capacity building across the team.

About you

You are an appropriately qualified professional with experience in providing high level assessments, case planning and support response to people experiencing homelessness.

You have an understanding of the lived experience of LGBTIQ people, and of the differential health and well-being outcomes that exist for LGBTIQ people.

You have experience in supporting clients who are homeless, or at risk of homelessness, and who present with complex needs in a range of areas including: alcohol and other drugs, mental health, physical illness or disability, and psychosocial or behavioural issues.

You will have:

  • A broad understanding of relevant primary and allied health services, alcohol and other drug treatment services, mental health services, employment, education and training options and affordable housing available to clients.
  • A demonstrated ability to effectively build, engage and maintain professional working relationships with people experiencing homelessness.
  • A demonstrated commitment to social justice which drives persistence and an unconditional positive regard.
  • Experience in liaising with other community service organisations for the development of on-going relationships and referral protocols beneficial to client support.

Salary Range: SCHCDSI Level 5 $42.94 - $44.89 per hour dependant on experience
