The Summer Foundation’s aim is to resolve the issue of young people living in Nursing Homes. Our Mission is to create, lead and demonstrate long-term sustainable change that stops young people from being forced to live in nursing homes because there is nowhere else for them.

The Summer Foundation’s Housing Matching Team works nationally with Specialty Disability Accommodation Providers and people living with disability through our Tenancy Matching Service to allow these people to live independently, often for the first time.

Currently our fast moving and dynamic team is looking for a passionate, driven and energetic team member in Victoria to manage Tenancy Matching projects on the ground. The Project Coordinator will engage people with disability, their families, supporters and professionals in the sector to connect them with newly built housing. This pivotal role is a lynchpin between people with disabilities and the providers. The Coordinator educates stakeholders on the new model of housing and facilitates a selection process on behalf of the providers supporting both the housing applicants and the provider throughout the whole process.

This role is not a maintenance role. We have committed deadlines and a strong accountability focus. The right person will enjoy working quickly and will have more than one project happening at the same time. It’s exciting, challenging and extremely rewarding!

This role also has a high degree of autonomy, will often work independently and may travel regionally and interstate at times.  

Your Responsibilities:

  • Delivery of engagement strategies including facilitation of workshops, information sessions and conferences
  • Cultivate strong individual relationships with key stakeholders in the disability and housing sector
  • Engagement of people with disability who have complex needs and their support networks, to promote the opportunity of independent living at Specialist Disability Accommodation builds and assist them through the whole process
  • Development and presentation of reports as required
  • Support and advice to stakeholders in relation to the development of housing plans for NDIS participants
  • Advice to Specialist Disability Accommodation Providers with regards to the promotion of their properties

Your Skills & Experience:

  • You must be a confident public speaker
  • You must have Allied Health or disability experience or relevant qualifications
  • Exposure to working on projects with deadlines
  • You should have experience working in the disability sector working and/or with people with complex needs
  • You could have community engagement experience including networking and stakeholder engagement
  • It would be great if you had knowledge of NDIS, SDA housing environment
  • You should have an advanced knowledge of the Google Drive and Microsoft Office Skills
  • You will have excellent Verbal, written and presentation skills
  • You will definitely have great organisational skills
