Summer Foundation’s Housing Matching Team was created almost three years ago and has undergone huge growth since then. We are a team of dedicated and passionate professionals who believe in the vision and do everything we can to be successful. We are now looking for a passionate and skilled Deputy General Manager and outstanding “doer” to drive all of the operational functions of the team.

Reporting to the General Manager Housing Matching, the Deputy General Manager will lead a small team in the delivery of the Governance, Finance, HR, Communications, Legal and Risk areas of our business As the team is growing constantly it requires fit for purpose systems and processes to deliver work at scale across Australia. We have done some work in this area, however as we build, we grow in complexity. Some work has been completed to develop simple processes in these areas, the work required now is to build these out for the enterprise to scale. And we need help!

This role is the chief “doer” of our business unit. Not only will the successful candidate have significant responsibilities, but they will also deputise for the General Manager as required. This is a highly operational role and is not for the faint hearted!

Some of the Key Responsibilities (but not all) include:

Governance

  • Develop a 2 year plan aligning the Summer Foundation Strategy with the Housing Matching Team’s strategy
  • Monthly reporting agendas and papers for Advisory Board and Leadership Team meetings.

Finance

  • Develop the budget, monthly forecasts and monthly reporting for the cost centres
  • Prepare reports for funding agreements and acquittals
  • Develop models for revenue generation and growth.

Human Resources

  • Develop and implement a people and culture plan for the HMT, including: a learning and development plan; fit for purpose OHS processes; and a reward and recognition plan

Communications

  • Lead the communications and engagement team for the whole of the HMT

Legal and Risk

  • Liaise with external legal counsel on matters as required and maintain risk register

Team Leadership

  • Manage Human Resources effectively across the Team in line with our culture and operational priorities, including KPIs implementation and reporting.

In order to succeed in this role you will need to have the following qualifications, skills and experience:

Qualifications

Degree in Business/Commerce.

Experience

Essential

  • Demonstrated experience leading in an operations management role covering the areas of finance, communications and human resources
  • People leadership and team management
  • Project management
  • Evaluation and reporting

Desired

  • Understanding of the disability sector, the barriers and the players
  • Lived experience of disability and housing search
  • Leadership experience in a social enterprise or for purpose organisation.

  • Commercial acumen and Financial Management

Employment basis

  • Ongoing part time, 0.8 FTE
  • Melbourne, Sydney or Brisbane, with regular interstate travel
