The St Vincent de Paul Society is a leading provider of community support services and has been assisting people experiencing disadvantage in NSW for more than 130 years. Our people reach out to the most vulnerable in our community through our Conferences, Special Works and Vinnies shops. The Role

The Auburn Distribution Centre fulfils the stock requirements of Vinnies shops within Metropolitan Sydney. The Truck Driver is part of the dedicated team of staff and volunteers in Auburn working together to ensure that the Vinnies shops are fully stocked with pre-loved, good quality items. Good customer service and time management skills are important to this role. There is lifting involved, a good driving record will be highly regarded.

The Truck Driver is responsible for:

  • timely delivery of stock to Vinnies Shops; delivery of goods to customers and people we assist
  • collection of goods from donation bins; store to store transfer of stock
  • dealing with staff/volunteers, customers and people we assist in a professional manner
  • carrying out motor vehicle inspection and reporting maintenance requirements for truck as required
  • ensuring the security of goods, equipment and vehicle
  • clearing waste from retail shops
  • complying with relevant WHS standards and procedures.

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Demonstrated experience in a warehouse or distribution environment.
  • Professional empathy skills in working with donors and welfare clients.
  • Physical capacity to stand for long periods of time and lift goods safely.
  • Proven ability to work as part of a team.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication and organisational skills.
  • Ability to work with a diverse workforce including employees and volunteers.
  • NSW driver licence and MR or HR (Heavy Rigid) and LF licence.
