Amélie Housing Overview

Amélie Housing is the name of the national community housing provider organisation established by St Vincent de Paul Society (the Society) in Australia. Amelie Housing is an important part of the Society.

"The mission of Amélie Housing is to provide appropriate, secure housing to those who are homeless or disadvantaged and to work in partnership with their communities to build inclusive neighbourhoods which are socially, environmentally and economically sustainable".

Amélie Housing is a Registered Tier 1 Community Housing Provider under the National Regulatory System for Community Housing.

Amelie Housing has over 1,000 tenancies and has properties across Metropolitan Sydney and Regional NSW (600), South Australia (300) and the Australian Capital Territory (100). Amelie also provides tenancy and asset management services for 502 SVDP Housing properties recently completed as part of the NSW Government Social and Affordable Housing Fund (SAHF).

About the role

You will be accountable for providing efficient and effective operation of Amelie's housing and tenant services. You will manage a team of housing staff across NSW and the ACT, managing a diversified and complex portfolio. As part of the senior leadership team you will be an active contributor to the annual budget, business plan and strategy as well as delivering outcomes. Social and affordable housing is a highly topical area and we are proud to be a leader in this area.

You will be accountable for:

  • Development of work procedures and processes to maintain Housing Services effectiveness
  • Leadership and team development
  • Compliance to government programs requirements with respect to use and tenant eligibility
  • Working closely with tenancy support partners to provide key metrics, issues resolution and tenant support
  • Promoting tenant empowerment

About you:

With a strong background and knowledge social, affordable and transitional housing you will have a strong understanding of the current issues and the role of government agencies such as DCJ and the NSW Land & Housing Corporation. You will be keen to continue to build your career in the field and step into a leadership position. You will also have:

  • Degree qualification/s in a field relevant to the provision of community and affordable housing
  • Thorough knowledge of community housing requirements including the National Regulatory System
  • Proven management skills
  • Commitment to continuous improvement within the workplace
  • Understanding of external reporting requirements in a community housing context
  • Proven report and financial management skills
  • Proven written and oral communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Computer proficiency including Excel and Microsoft Office programs
