Directorate Overview

The role is in the Commercial Operations, Fundraising and Communications Directorate, and is part of the Retail and Logistics team. This team is responsible for state-wide retail service delivery; logistics and supply chain network; and retail projects.

The Role

The Sorting Area Supervisor will supervise a team of sorters and will coordinate all related activities including sorting, pricing and storage of goods, and getting stock ready for distribution to Vinnies retail stores. Your keen eye for detail, good organisational and leadership skills are attributes that are critical to effectively meet your team's objectives.

The role's key responsibilities include:

  • Train and supervise volunteers.
  • Ensure that all related activities including: sorting, pricing, and storage are efficiently undertaken according to procedures.
  • Plan the team's workflow on a weekly basis; prepare rosters.
  • Manage internal and external customer orders; and coordinate timely delivery of stock.
  • Maintain the general cleanliness in the sorting area.
  • Ensure that work, health and safety standards are complied with at all times.
  • Maintenance of sorting equipment, ensure that it's in good working condition.
  • Ensure appropriate level of consumables i.e. coat hangers, tags etc. are maintained.
  • Assist the DC Manager with the operation of the sorting area.

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Demonstrated knowledge in clothing brands and prices.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to build a positive, motivated and successful team.
  • Experience in rostering and stock management.
  • Friendly manner and good personal presentation.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work cooperatively with others.
  • Excellent communication, organisation and problem-solving skills.
  • Commitment to quality customer service.
