About the Regional Operations Team

The Schools and Youth Engagement Officer role is in the Membership, Volunteers and Regional Operations directorate and is part of the Regional Operations team. This team is responsible for local implementation of conference engagement; member engagement; volunteer engagement; WE CARE process; regional leadership; community engagement; community needs analysis; and enabling functions coordination.

The Role

The Schools and Youth Engagement Coordinator is vital to the implementation and delivery of activities targeted to grow the participation of schools and youth in the good works of the Society across the North West region. This role is a good fit for someone with a keen interest in engaging with the youth/young people and local communities, and implementation of relevant projects.

The Schools and Youth Engagement Officer will:

  • Implement specific projects and initiatives aligned to the state-wide strategies to strengthen schools and youth engagement in the region.
  • Contribute to the effective implementation of social justice & advocacy initiatives for schools and youth in the region.
  • Engage with members, volunteers and the local community to ensure that activities developed are responsive to local youth needs.
  • Work collaboratively with the Fundraising and Communications team to support and implement local fundraising activities and initiatives.
  • Ensure active and regular communications to schools and youth utilising technology and social media as required.

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Demonstrated passion and experience in working with children and young people in an empowering capacity.
  • Proven project coordination skills and the ability to manage competing priorities.
  • Proven ability to effectively engage with local schools, including primary and secondary schools.
  • Experience working with and effectively engaging young people.
  • Proven communication and interpersonal skills across a range of mediums.
  • Proven ability to effectively engage with internal and external stakeholders , including teachers, members, volunteers and staff delivering a variety of services.
  • NSW driver licence and capacity to travel within the region.
  • Capacity to work intermittently out of hours, including weekends and evening events.
