Directorate overview

This position is in the Membership, Volunteers and Regional Operations directorate and is part of the Regional Operations team that is responsible for local implementation of conference engagement; member engagement; volunteer engagement; WE CARE process; regional leadership; community engagement; community needs analysis; and enabling functions coordination.

The Role

The Member and Community Engagement Coordinator will support the regional council in implementing state-wide membership programs and initiatives. The person in the role will work closely with team members across the North East Regional Council, including Regional Director, Conference Presidents, members, volunteers and members of the local community.
The role will:

  • Act as the link between all relevant internal stakeholders who are involved in and are supporting the delivery of membership programs and initiatives.
  • Provide high level customer service and community engagement across the North East region.
  • Actively participate in and support the implementation of community engagement activities/events (e.g. Sleepout, Anti-Poverty week etc) and social justice/advocacy initiatives which are aimed at increasing community participation and enhancing public's awareness of the Society's work.
  • Work with others to undertake community needs analysis across the region to ensure a deep understanding of the current and future needs of the people we serve.
  • Implement attraction, retention and engagement initiatives and programs across the region aligned with the state wide membership engagement strategy.
  • Prepare and deliver reports on member and community engagement programs and initiatives as required.

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Relevant tertiary qualification/s in human resources, human services or related area.
  • Demonstrated experience developing and implementing engagement strategies for member-based organisations.
  • Demonstrated experience implementing community engagement strategies for large organisations in metropolitan and regional areas.
  • Demonstrated ability to review and analyse data and analytics to enable effective reporting on membership programs.
  • Sound stakeholder management and conflict resolution skills, with a proven ability to collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Proven communication and interpersonal skills across a range of mediums.
