The St Vincent de Paul Society is a leading provider of community support services and has been assisting people experiencing disadvantage in NSW for more than 130 years. Our people reach out to the most vulnerable in our community through our Conferences, Special Works and Vinnies shops. The Society's mission is to shape a more just and compassionate society by offering a 'hands up' approach to people in need respecting their dignity, sharing our hope and encouraging them to take control of their own destiny.

Directorate overview

This position is in the Vinnies Services directorate and part of the Sydney Archdiocese Disability Services provides a stable and safe environment that supports people with disability to develop their confidence, life skills and independence. Our programs include centre-based and recreational day programs as well as respite and longer-term accommodation services.

The Role

The Living Skills Support Worker is responsible for the direct care and capacity building of people with disability in accordance with individual participant's care plan.

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Cert III Disabilities or equivalent (or working towards) or relevant experience.
  • Knowledge of and sensitivity to the needs of people with a disability and their
  • Good written and oral communication skills, including good interpersonal skills with a demonstrated ability to relate positively and confidently with a wide range of people, in a variety of
  • Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team.
  • Willingness to work within the ethos and Mission Statement of the St Vincent de Paul Society.
  • Current NSW Working With Children Check
  • Willingness to undergo National Criminal History Check
