The St Vincent de Paul Society is a leading provider of community support services, whose mission it is to shape a more just and compassionate society.

The role:

This role is best suited to a person who is culturally and linguistically diverse. You will be helping the local community; providing advice and support to women affected by domestic and family violence and referring them to other services where appropriate. You will also be assisting people who have been affected by social isolation, where your deep understanding of and being from a refugee or CALD background will help establish and support this program.

Your responsibilities include:

  • Deliver high-quality services in a timely manner, including mandatory reporting to the Department of Social Services and SVDP.
  • Address client needs through casework and share information at community events that align with the priority areas identified in the Activity Workplan for DFV.
  • Have conversations with people covering topics relevant to reduction/prevention of DFV among newly arrived communities
  • Ensure appropriate records are kept covering clients, services provided, telephone queries and group-work as per DSS and SVDP reporting requirements

This role will report to the Manager, North Coast Settlement Services

To be successful, you will need:

  • A CALD or refugee background
  • English is your second language.
  • Experience with or understanding of maintaining records of service delivery, or ability to acquire the knowledge.
  • Excellent oral communication skills in your first language
  • High-level interpersonal skills, including the ability to work in a multifunctional team and to interact with a broad cross-section of people.
  • Certificate of completion for DV ALERT or willingness to obtain Certificate of completion.
