Our Service:

headspace Meadowbrook is an established service supporting the Meadowbrook and Logan community since 2015. headspace Centres act as a one-stop-shop for young people who need help with mental health, physical health, alcohol and other drugs and/or work and study support .

Role overview:

The purpose of this role is to lead, organise and engage priority groups within the community.

  • This role will include both operational and service delivery responsibilities, with the overall goal of ensuring all young people who identify in the priority groups can gain access to the specific support and services
  • Support all cultural governance activities, including working in collaboration with the Community Engagement Coordinator
  • Promote the service, communicate regularly and build and maintain collaborative working relationships with program partners and all relevant stakeholders.
  • Provide individual support for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander, Pacific Islander and Maori young people and their families when required
  • In collaboration with local Elders, Pacific Islander and Maori communities, create a culturally appropriate referral pathway offering safe access into headspace for young people and their families
  • Support a case of load of hard to engage young people and coordinate a roster of group programs facilitated by the Social Inclusion Coordinator and other staff members. 

Requirements:

  • Minimum of Cert IV/Diploma in an Community Development or Health related sector (ideally a completed degree)
  • Experience in a similar role including Health Promotion Officer, Community Development, Mental Health provider and/or service provider
  • An understanding and passion for the health and wellbeing of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander young people & their families
  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills showing an ability and sensitivity to work with and engage a variety of different people and stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of the rationale, principles and evidence for early intervention for mental health of young people
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with other services to plan and coordinate individualised psychosocial interventions to meet the needs of young people.
  • Demonstrated ability to work autonomously
  • Advanced computer literacy – Microsoft Office Suite, Mastercare, other Client Management Systems (CMS) and understanding IT networking and systems
  • Excellent verbal communication and written skills
  • Must be eligible to apply/currently hold a Blue Card
  • Must hold/be willing to apply for NDIS worker screening clearance 
  • This position requires the incumbent to operate a C class motor vehicle
