Role overview:

This is a new and exciting opportunity to help deliver the Assisting Communities through Direct Connection (ACDC) project. In this position you will:-

  • Distribute information to letterboxes at identified addresses about the Project
  • Visit these same addresses and engage with the responders in conversations about social and emotional wellbeing
  • Distribute and explain information about the local and online social and emotional wellbeing support services
  • Assist people to take initial steps to connect with social and emotional wellbeing support services
  • Invite consenting responders to complete the ACDC survey and to assist them to do so, and to participate in scheduled communities of practice and the continuous improvement activities of Community Mental Health Australia.
  • Complete training and orientation to the role delivered by CMHA

Requirements:

  • Minimum of Cert IV in mental health or community services related discipline
  • Ideally 12 months experience working in the community mental health/social and emotional wellbeing support sector
  • Experience, knowledge and understanding of contemporary issues in mental health services and the mental health community sector in Australia
  • Experience, knowledge and understanding of the demographics and cultural sensitivities of the local community at the specified ACDC site
  • Demonstrated effective listening, empathy and communication skills
  • Ability to think and act calmly and deal sensitively with distressed people
  • Understanding of the principles of duty of care, rights to privacy and confidentiality
  • Willingness to abide by the Disability Services Acts and Standards and Work Health & Safety Act
  • Competence with Microsoft Office
  • Current driver's license
