About the service:

This is a brand new service in the ACT. Southside Community Step Up Step Down (SUSD) is designed to maximise the clinical recovery and psychosocial gains for adults (18-65 years) who are likely to benefit from sub-acute mental health care within an integrated community residential environment.

Role overview:

  • This role has responsibility for the service establishment as well as for the provision of  service  leadership and management to the  SUSD team members. 
  • Day to day delivery of excellence in quality care provision, ensuring all  governance, compliance  and risk  targets are implemented and met
  • Supporting  innovation and quality improvement to ensure evidence-based  outcomes for young people accessing the service
  • Manage the day to day operations, rosters, staff culture & service delivery
  • Effective  stakeholder management is integral to the role 

Requirements:

  • Tertiary level education in Social Work, Psychology, Occupational Therapy or Nursing (with specialist training in Mental Health)
  • Registration with a discipline-specific board
  • Knowledge and understanding of the theory underpinning evidence-based psychosocial interventions and excellence in the practical application, in the area of adult mental health and alcohol and drug use and recovery.  
  • Experience managing a team and the ability to lead the coordination of care for adults with complex needs, incl. consultation and engagement with professionals, families, friends and carers.  
  • Experience developing and delivering individual/group-based interventions
  • Ability to develop and maintain relevant partnerships  
  • Highly developed communication (including written) and interpersonal skills
  • Good computer skills with use of the Microsoft Office Suite and capacity to learn a clinical software package.  
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise, meet deadlines, take initiative, problem-solve, work well under pressure and seek counsel where appropriate
  • Current or eligibility to obtain; working with vulnerable people (WWVP) registration and Yellow Card (or exemption)
  • Be able to operate a C class motor vehicle and an appropriate license endorsement.
