School Nurse Manager

We have an exciting opportunity for a high performing and suitably qualified School Nurse Manager to join our Health and Wellbeing Services team. The role attends to the health and wellbeing needs of students and staff by managing and administering health and first aid procedures in the School and plays a role in educating and supporting the broader school community.

The successful candidate requires exceptional clinical assessment skills and strong clinical reasoning, with the ability to maintain high standards of professionalism, remaining empathetic to our students and their families when dealing with difficult situations. Experience dealing with complex allergies, diabetes, mental health issues, and chronic asthma, coupled with the confidence to manage these conditions appropriately is essential.

We are looking for an individual who exhibits a learning disposition in relation to all aspects of this position, striving for continuous improvement in addition to bringing the required skills and experience for the role.

Your key responsibilities include:

• Attending to the immediate first aid and physical and mental health needs of students and staff;
• Completing clinical assessments for ongoing health concerns, ensuring effective management and development of care plans for students;
• Supporting the school community in addressing contemporary health and social issues facing young people and families, including consultation with the school leadership team to ensure health and wellbeing policies and procedures are up to date and legislatively compliant;
• Managing the development of health policies and practices that promote positive health outcomes and reduce risk taking behaviour amongst young people, including consulting with and advising school leadership on best practice;
• Leading primary First Aid carers located at our other campuses and ensuring best practice standards;
• Ensuring compliance with all relevant State, Federal and professional legislation and regulations, e.g. Ministerial Order 706 (Anaphylaxis) and Ministerial Order 870 (Child Safe Standards)
• As the Principal's nominee, managing the care of students at risk of anaphylaxis including contact with parent/s, staff education, student education and compliance with Government regulations and guidelines;
• Organising relevant staff education and health promotion program (i.e. First Aid Training).

What we're looking for

• Comprehensive knowledge of school nursing incorporating child and adolescent health and development and child safety.
• Highly developed interpersonal skills including a demonstrated ability to consult, negotiate, support and interact with a range of stakeholders including students, parents, staff and the wider school community.
• High-level management skills.
• Capacity to work both independently and as part of a team with a high level of professionalism
• Competent in the use of Information Communication Technology.
• Supportive of the values and teachings of the Christian tradition.
