An exciting opportunity to play a key role in the development of a new suite of specialist programs that will be co-designed with, and delivered by, First Nations people, for First Nations People.

This position will join St Patrick’s senior management team to provide leadership and management oversight to St Pat’s specialist Aboriginal outreach, health worker and peer navigator programs. It will support Aboriginal stakeholder engagement, including the development and support of an Aboriginal Reference Group which will help inform the program delivery.

About Us

St Pat’s is a specialist homelessness service which has been working side by side with vulnerable people in Fremantle and the wider south metropolitan region for 50 years. St Pat’s delivers a range of specialist, evidence-based services designed to break the cycle of homelessness and disadvantage, including housing, health, welfare and emergency relief and social inclusion. St Pat’s Support Services work with families and individuals experiencing or at risk of homelessness. Specialists work with people relevant to their individual needs, which can include:

  • working in public spaces with people to engage them in services and monitor their ongoing health and welfare,
  • assisting people to access long term, stable housing,
  • providing ongoing support to people once they are housed to reduce the likelihood of them falling back into homelessness.

About You

Aboriginality is a requirement for this position as defined under Section 50(d) of the Equal Opportunity Act (WA) 1984.

This role will support St Pat’s to better engage in a culturally safe way with our Aboriginal clients experiencing homelessness and/or transitioning into long term stable accommodation and more broadly to support better outcomes for Aboriginal People.

As a member of St Pat’s leadership team, this position oversees the development and delivery of St Pat’s specialist Aboriginal services and plays a key role in the development and maintenance of positive collaborative relationships with Aboriginal leaders, Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisations and the wider Aboriginal community.

This role is accountable for all aspects of the delivery of the Aboriginal specialist support services in accordance with the Funding Agreement and internal services specifications including staff supervision and leadership; as well as management functions including overseeing the reporting, contract compliance and oversight, budgeting, compliance, risk management, health and safety, and general administration; and ensuring a coordinated approach across relevant St Patrick’s support services teams to successfully achieve a quality, effective and seamless service delivery.

We're looking for someone who has:

  • Experience in the provision of services to Aboriginal people with complex issues including homelessness, disability, mental health, trauma and dual diagnosis;
  • Demonstrated understanding of best practice in delivery of effective, culturally appropriate support services, particularly in an Aboriginal homelessness context; and
  • Exceptional interpersonal and influencing skills to ensure strong working internal and external relationships and stakeholder management.
