City of Stonnington has an opportunity available for a temporary 6 month period in a full time capacity, with flexibility for part time:

  • Maternal and Child Health (MCH) Family Support Worker in our Maternal and Child Health Service located at Various MCH Centers throughout the City of Stonnington.

This position will be working with families and children who have been heavily impacted by COVID, with the aim of building their capacity to access services, supports and/or programs; and enhance their health and wellbeing, social connection and engagement.

The MCH Family Support Worker role strongly focuses on providing high-quality services supporting parents and families experiencing vulnerability using a multidisciplinary approach. This position is responsible for providing generalist case management support, outreach, referral and advocacy to vulnerable and at risk families and children who live in the City of Stonnington area. The successful applicant will need to have significant experience in providing generalist support to families and children with experience in case management, undertaking risk assessments, and planning appropriate intervention strategies. Knowledge of the local service sector would be beneficial and an ability to develop and maintain strong working relationships with the community and service sector. If you have strong interpersonal skills and an ability to work flexibly and innovatively to meet the needs of families and children then this role is for you. Tertiary qualifications in social sciences ideally social work, psychology or similar with a minimum of 3 years’ experience in case management / family support is desirable.
