Community Program Officer - Party Safe

St John Ambulance has been a trusted and reassuring presence in the Victorian community for more than 139 years. Our community programs allow St John to share our commitment to building a life long ability to offer first aid in response to an emergency. Our programs deliver engaging and age appropriate First Aid information and training to children, youth and adults in schools and community settings. Our latest offering is our Party Safe youth program.

The program is in its infancy, with the Community Program Officer responsible for driving the development and implementation of the Party Safe Program. They will seek to create an engaging and impactful program aimed at young people (primarily within years 9/10) within secondary schools, launch the program, commence delivery, and then train other facilitators on how to deliver the program, ensuring program sustainability and growth.

The successful candidate will have a consultative approach, experience in writing and delivering training materials and be driven to launch the program, engage with school leaders and be willing to share their knowledge with others to embed the program.

We’d like to hear from you if you have:

  • Proven experience in the development and execution of successful community programs.
  • Experience delivering and presenting community programs in person, ideally targeted at young people.
  • An engaging and personable presentation style.
  • A background in physical or mental health, with an understanding of the effects of drugs and alcohol.
  • Demonstrated stakeholder engagement and management skills.
  • Sound interpersonal skills and the ability to quickly establish and maintain positive working relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong organisational and problem-solving skills with the demonstrated ability to identify the actions required to resolve issues and take responsibility for following these through to completion.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Applications- Word, PowerPoint, Excel.
  • Own vehicle and a driver’s license
  • A willingness to travel throughout Melbourne A
  • An Innovative approach to problem solving, with the ability to think outside the square.
