About the Role

St John NSW is seeking to build an interactive, engaging, consistent and robust Cadet Curriculum for our current Youth Development Program. Reporting into the GM of People and Culture, the Youth Learning & Development Specialist will be responsible for developing a syllabus for children aged 12-17, and developing engaging learning resources and units of work. 

This is a 6 month full-time fixed-term position. 

Key Responsibilities Include;

  • Building a roadmap for success that provides Leaders, Cadets and community stakeholders with a measurable plan for delivering a St John NSW quality consistent education to deliver first aid and other programs for the community
  • Developing a syllabus that identifies the learning outcomes, skill standards and core competencies that students learn to demonstrate. This will then help Cadets to better understand their learning pathways and expectations.
  • Ensuring that the St John NSW Cadet Curriculum continues to build the resilience of youth in St John and our communities and provide young people with a platform for self-development
  • Ensuring that all newly developed resources support child safety and governance for our youth
  • Working collaboratively with stakeholders across the organisation to ensure that learning outcomes maximise funding and donor opportunities whilst at the same time deliver the maximum community impact
  • Developing and fostering a strong collaborative working relationship with Cadet Leaders and youth to achieve the above 

Our Ideal Candidate has:

  • Demonstrated experience in curriculum or syllabus development for children aged 12-17
  • Knows learning principles for both youth
  • Has created materials for groups of various learning and education backgrounds such as rural, youth and specialists
  • Experience and skills in working in a developmental role with a provider of education and training services including course design and content, andragogy, assessment and articulation.
