We are looking for a Senior Product Designer (UX/UI) in Melbourne. In this role, you will lead the user experience and interface design for our web platform and mobile applications. Working in cross-functional sprint teams and collaborating with science writers, designers and engineers, you will work on product features for our in-classroom software, content and class management tools and analytics features.

We aspire to provide everything schools and teachers need to facilitate a world-class science education. Creating useful, intuitive tools that enhance the teaching and learning experience is what this role is about. We are very considerate about the kinds of technology and experiences we are introducing to classrooms and ensure that they are never just for technology’s sake. How you’ll spend your time

  • Reporting to the Head of Design and working closely with our co-founders, you will create products and features for teachers and students around Australia and now in schools in California.
  • You’ll own the interface and experience design of our digital products. From feature development to creating a design system, this role is to ensure we can build excellent digital products.
  • You’ll deeply understand the needs of teachers and students and create innovative solutions and experiences that enhance the classroom learning experience.
  • You’ll spend time creating user scenarios, user journey, wireframes, high-fidelity UI designs, and prototypes throughout the full cycle of the product development process.
  • You’ll work on creating a design system from the ground up with the engineering team that is flexible, accessible, and enables the team.
  • Working with an amazing cross-functional team of designers, illustrators, videographers, engineers, and educators in the Melbourne office + US.

A bit more about you

  • You bring a minimum of 5 years of product design experience with a strong portfolio of end-to-end projects.
  • You have experience working closely with software engineers and may have even worked on changing legacy design systems.
  • You are an expert in interface patterns and have excellent visual design skills.
  • You have experience with user research and usability testing.
  • You can build a team of designers to work on multiple product streams.

Hours and location

This is a full-time, permanent role with some flexible work hours. While we think collaboration in an office environment is an important part of building the best possible resources, we also appreciate that working from home or away from the office can help with concentration and the flexibility needed in modern life. Need to pick up the kids? No worries – we’re all about what you achieve, not the hours of the day that you achieve it. Our (awesome) office is located on Exhibition Street in Melbourne CBD.
