About the opportunity

St Bart’s is currently looking for an exceptional Accounts Officer (Payroll) to join the finance team. This is an exciting opportunity offering end-to-end processing of payroll for an individual looking to make the role your own. As a new addition to the team, bringing in an alternative perspective, we are interested in your input in improving service delivery and operational outcomes. Your outstanding attention to detail, and ability to juggle multiple tasks at any one time will make you an ideal candidate for this position. Proven payroll experience is essential as well as knowledge of basic payroll processes and principles. As required, you will be confident in seeking advice from your line manager. The successful candidate will be confident in handling multiple and changing priorities, enjoy working to deadlines and be adaptable to change.

Your core responsibilities in this position will include:

  • Managing the payroll inbox, responding promptly and escalating queries when necessary
  • Ensuring employees are informed and understand the payroll processes and any other procedures or tools required for timely processing of payroll
  • Maintaining and updating accurate employee payroll records
  • Accurate and timely processing of payroll including payment of PAYG, Salary Packaging and Superannuation contributions
  • Understanding and applying EBA and Awards and how it applies to payroll, escalating queries to HR as necessary
  • Identify updates and improvements for all payroll related practices
  • Providing accurate payroll reports as required
  • Ability to handle internal queries in a professional and timely manner

St Bart’s is a not-for-profit organisation that provides a diverse range of services for those who are homeless or at risk of homelessness. Services include supported accommodation, recovery focused accommodation for those with Mental Health issues, residential aged care, and aged care home services.

To be considered for this position you must meet all of the following criteria:

  • Hold a minimum Certificate IV qualification in Accounting, Payroll or similar discipline
  • At least three (3) years demonstrated experience relevant to the position
  • Be a permanent resident of Australia or have current working rights to work in Australia
  • Have a current and satisfactory Police Clearance (obtained within the last 3 months)
  • Have a valid WA C class Drivers License (for identification purposes)
  • Highly proficient in the use of Microsoft Office programs, including Word and Excel
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to coordinate and prioritise competing deadlines
  • Exceptional accuracy and attention to detail
  • Proven competence and experience in payroll systems (MYOB Exo payroll and MyStaffInfo highly regarded)
  • Previous experience with HR & Payroll integrated systems desirable
  • Understanding of community sector policies and services highly regarded
